My husband and I were treated to a fantastic caterwauling performance by 2
pairs plus one barred owls in the woods surrounding the Creek Trail accessed
by the Tupelo Pond entrance to Big Creek Park north of Chardon. We were able
to distinguish their shadowy silhouettes up in the trees in the dwindling
light. They weren't spooked by our presence so we were able to enjoy the
show for as long as we wanted.
In addition, we heard spring peepers, lovely trilling toads and the snoring
calls of pickerel frogs from Tupelo Pond. A wonderful night in the woods!
