See a short report on a growing movement in Congress to delegate to the
states, rather than to the US Fish & Wildlife Service, authority to
allow lethal controls for double-crested cormorants. If you like yokel
politicians beholden to fishermen with apocalyptic imaginations to
govern scientific decisions, this is a another step on the way to the
edge. The integrity of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act is itself in jeopardy.
