Ohio birders,

We took some beginning birder friends out to Clear Creek Metro Park on
Saturday morning, May 5.  It was great fun - nothing too unusual, but what
a treat to show someone their first Scarlet Tanager and Hooded Warbler.
But, the 'best' bird was a Hermit Thrush that I observed collecting nesting
material.  I knew that they are rare nesters in Ohio and had been found
nesting in the Hocking Hills.  But only today, after I looked up the old
Ohio Breeding Bird atlas material on-line, did I see that it was only
confirmed in one block during the last atlas.  And that they estimated only
8-12 pairs breed in Ohio per year. Hah!
