Members of the Scioto Valley Bird and Nature Club went to the Paint Creek area this morning to do some "Block Busting" for the Breeding Bird Atlas.( Delorme pg.77 C-5)

This area has good birds in it, but coverage for the Atlas Project is very light to date. So all help is needed (like lots of other areas in Southern Ohio)

We found codes for around 72 species. Highlights include..Savannah Sparrow,Grasshopper Sparrow,Dickcissel, and Bobolink. Also, several confirmed species including Acad.Flycatcher(nest found).


This was our first block busting event..and it was great!  Most of my work has been solo thus far, what a nice change. If other clubs or groups are thinking about trying one, you will not be sorry!
