About 20 minutes ago on 01/28/15, I found the White-winged Scoter on the
Mad River. Enter the park at the entrance close to the Mad River not the
entrance near the lake. The lake is completely frozen with no birds. The
scoter was roughly half way between the whitewater facility in the river
and an island in the river. I found it by walking down the steps to the
whitewater facility in the river which is accessible from the parking area
at the end of the entry road. I was able to catch up with Mike Shade, who
I just met and helped him refind the scoter.
