Matt et all,

With all of the 'probable' Rufous Hummingbirds in the state right now, getting a nice tail spread shot is key. Pennsylvania just had their 3rd record of Allen's Hummingbird (which was originally called a Rufous). http://www.nemesisbird.com/2012/11/allens-hummingbird-bucks-county-pa/

Also, on the Ohio Ornithological Society website, a lady reported a hummingbird coming to her feeders in Ross County. I have yet to hear back from her but here's the post for those interested: http://www.ohiobirds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2401

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Possible Rufous Hummingbird in Delaware County

I have pictures posted of the hummingbird that is frequenting my feeder … A friend of mine is a professional photographer and got a lot of good shots.

http://www.emmett-photography.com/Category/Humming-Bird-20121123/

Unfortunately, I don't think we got a diagnostic tail shot, the bird was not cooperative in spreading out her tail.  The hummer has been very regular 15-30 minute (8am to 5pm) visitor for the past two days at least.   If anyone is interested in stopping by I live in the Polaris mall area … please contact me via e-mail to arrange a time.

Put your hummingbird feeders out!  You never know …

Thanks,
Matt
