While out scouting for the Columbus CBC, I ran across some interesting
sightings. I stopped at Gahanna Woods, and several areas around the
Airport, and had
Kestrels - rare in Columbus now, I had 1 at the east end of the Airport
(along Bridgewat Dr) and along I670 near the west end. This might be a
good omen for their #s here.
Barred Owl - 1 was being scolded by 2 Red-br.Nuthatches at Gahanna Woods.
Kind of the 'two-birds-with-one-stone' phenomenon.
E.Phoebe - calling birds were at two spots - Gahanna Woods and Pizzuro park
(along Big Walnut Creek at the east end of the Airport. This species is
very rare here in Winter.
