Last night (7/15) around 8:20 pm I observed 3 common nighthawks, two of them actively vocalizing with "peent" calls. One of the calling birds was observed swooping and diving at the silent bird in mid-air, just over a flat roofed building. This appeared to be a playful mock combat.

This is the first I have heard these birds vocalize since 6/24.
