I had a reasonably successful outing at Clear Creek this morning but the biggest surprise was when I came home & glanced at my feeders. First I saw the Rose-breasted Grosbeak which has been coming in regularly but wait, what’s that other red, black & white bird?? It was an adult Red-headed WP eating sunflower seeds from the platform feeder! Didn’t know they ate seed…I now have all the Ohio WPs as backyard birds.
At Clear Creek, I picked up many of the nesters for the area with some FOY. Also got my FOY Indigo Bunting. The only surprise was a pair of Common Mergansers on the Creek—I believe that’s a new species for my Clear Creek list. A few warblers escaped sighting so heard only.
