Hi: This morning I made a quick tour of the ponds along Overton Rd.
in the upper Killbuck valley above Wooster to see what washed out
yesterday in the heavy rainstorm. Surprisingly, there were very few
ducks, with the exception of 12-15 female hooded mergs, but only two
males. I did find two breeding plumaged common loons on separate
ponds. In the northernmost pond, I found a male surf scoter in
breeding plumage. That pond is located at the intersection of Overton
and Pleasant Home roads west of Rt. 83. It is surprising how many
surf scoters have been reported lately. Randy Rowe
