Not much in the way of waterfowl at Hueston Woods. I was surprised! I birded
Both Preble and Butler counties here. Picked up Horned Grebe, Ruddy Duck,
and Greater Scaup for my Butler big year. I went north after hitting my butler
Spots. No waterfowl in Preble til I hit the north end. And just the regulars -
Hooded Merg, mallards, geese. Strange. North Ohio has everything! I was
Looking for Eurasian Wigeon. Someday. That would be a state bird for me.
The woods area south of the dam is perfect habitat for Winter Wren. Lots of
Downed tree limbs. And I had 4. The area reminded me of Terrell Park in
Hamilton county. Still missing Creeper!
Good birding all. I am probably hitting Kentucky Tues. pick up some needed
Species there.
