3 black-crowned night-herons were observed this evening (12th) roosting in trees at the back-left of the lake. Later, as I was on the front, side trail before observation deck, two flew directly overhead, with one perching in nearby tree. Other highlights included a fishing osprey, Caspian tern, common loon, bufflehead, coot, pied-bill grebe, kingfisher, mute swan, wood ducks, 2 great blue herons, and plenty of red-breasted mergansers and lesser scaup. Also had savannah sparrow, golden-crowned kinglet, and an abundance of yellow-rumped warblers.
