While it was not exactly a wonderful view, I did see the subject bird at the location noted in other posts at Killdeer this morning around 11:30am. It was quite windy which made scoping challenging. The bird was near the H3 sign out by the drying water lilies—definitely needed a scope.
Luckily the bird is quite buffy/warm compared to the other shorebirds so it’s easier to pick out when it’s near other birds.
I hung around for awhile after other birders departed hoping for at least better light and/or less wind but it was not to be. I did not see the bird after around 12:45pm and most of the other shorebirds disappeared as well.
Shorebirds:
Dunlin
Pectoral SP
Dowitcher (presume SB)
Killdeer
Lesser YLs (flyover & calling)
Also had a pair of N Harriers hunting over the marshes.
Bald Eagle (ad)
Red-tailed Hawk
Sandhill Cranes— at least 12
Calling and doing some dancing—v cool
Wood Duck
Peggy Wang
Granville
