This afternoon I checked Evans L., Pine L., and Beaver Twp. in Mahoning Co. and Arrowhead L. in Columbiana.  The highlight was flocks of long-tailed ducks--14 at Evans L. and 12 more at Pine L.  Other waterfowl totals were: 3 n. shovelers, 113 ring-necked ducks, 28 lesser scaup, 9 buffleheads, 2 hooded mergansers, 1 common merganser, 6 red-breasted mergansers, 14 ruddy ducks, 10 horned grebes, 11 pied-billed grebes, and 2 double-crested cormorants.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
