Hello!

Yesterday morning, my wife and I took the kids on a walk out at Scioto
Audubon MP. We saw 3 very vocal Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and about 10
cormorants, among other more common species.

This morning I birded the Hilliard Village jogging trail near my home. I
was surprised by the numbers of flickers...I counted approximately 10 in
just 30 minutes! Everywhere I looked there was another
one. Like sapsuckers the other day, their sheer numbers and habit of not
staying put for too long made it difficult to assess their true numbers. I
don't think I've ever seen that many flickers in one day! Hermit Thrushes
were just thick too. It seemed like there was always one running away from
me on the trail or flying across the trail. I estimated 14 on the morning.
The other highlights were the continued presence of at least one
Red-breasted Nuthatch in the woods, and a Louisiana Waterthrush feeding in
the boggy area of the woods, which is another new species to add to my list
for the location.

Other species seen include a pair of Brown Thrashers, 7 Y-b Sapsuckers, a
Swamp Sparrow, a male Hairy Woodpecker, about 3 apiece of both kinglet
species, 2 creepers, as well as most of the other usual suspects.

Good birding,

Nate Nye
Hilliard, OH
