Walked around Spring Valley Wildlife Area this am and was sort of dismayed to see four Tree Swallows circling over the very frozen lake.  Besides for being my earliest date in the 35 years I have been keeping records, I worry about them with the single digits predicted this week.  Also had 19 Tundra Swans, at least 5 Fox Sparrows (one singing), several towhees and red-wings in song.
