I took a couple of my children down to the Norwalk Reservoir to get some of their energy out at the playground. While we were there we saw the following: Canada Goose Ring-billed Gull American Crow American Goldfinch Great Blue Heron Mallard (including an interesting "albino" individual) After a while, a large bird of prey began hovering over the lake, attempting to nab fish. I tried to get a good look at him with binoculars, but the cloud cover and distance did not make it easy. August 7 - 9:30 a.m.
Took a quick run through Englewood Main Metropark this morning. Probably
missed a few things. Numbers still good on most shorebirds previously
reported.
Killdeer
Pectoral sp
Solitary sp
Least sp
Semipalmated sp
Lesser yellowlegs
Stilt sp
Spotted sp
Great egret
Great blue herons
DC cormorant
Belted kingfishers
Wood ducks
Cooper's hawk (kept flushing everything back and forth)
Rough-winged, tree, and barn swallows
Chimney swifts - many
Turkey vultures
And most of the "regular stuff "
