Dear Colleagues,
I have been asked about the current status of the federal
governments requirements for collecting and reporting data on race and
ethnicity. The most recent information that I have on the "new" Ethnic
codes is the The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has released OMB
Bulletin No. 00-02 which provides guidance to federal agencies on the
aggregation and allocation of data on race
<http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/bulletins/b00-02.html>.
It was released on March 9, 2000. I have no other information on the
requirements or recommendations for reporting.
Is anyone aware of a more recent release or clarification?
As you may remember, an earlier recommendation suggested a separate
question to allow respondents the choice of either Hispanic or Latino
and Not
Hispanic or Latino. I see nothing of this in the current OMB proposal.
Any authoritative information on the current status of this issue
would be greatly appreciated.
