At Yale, we have had fires due to daisy chaining plug strips together. The
fires usually happen with the cheaper $10 plastic housing style strips and
generally seem to be from overheating over time which causes internal
failure of the strip. We did some preliminary load testing and found that
not all plug strips are created equal. The phrase, you get what you pay for
comes to mind. In my opinion, daisy chaining strips together is a fire
waiting to happen.
