Just as a thought-

Other than locking the doors which I would do no matter what, Has anyone
asked the car dealers what they do?

They must have some basic safety procedures.

As a fire protection professional, I cannot recall any fire incidents
involving new cars in a showroom or similar setting (shopping malls etc.)

Just a thought
