Firefighters trapped
Syracuse, NY

NOTE: This incident is not campus-related. However, the circumstances are
those that can be found in student housing. Ed Comeau

At an apartment fire, three firefighters were trapped when a parachute that
had been hung from the ceiling as decoration fell on them. The fire and the
water from the activated sprinkler system caused the parachute to fall onto
the fire fighters who had to be freed by other firefighters using knives to
cut them free. The three trapped firefighters were hospitalized for smoke
inhalation.
