At the University of Rochester we allow the use of the ceramic type
heater after facilities has verified they can not supply a comfortable
heated environment. The heaters are then purchased and installed
through the facilities department. We require the basic good fire
practices such as no combustibles within 3 feet of the heater, no
extension cords supplying the heaters, must be continuously
attended while in operation, etc.
