Hi Bill and List:
Our fire code is a modified BOCA model code. Section F-3606.1 requires that
LP Gas containers be stored outside of buildings, except under certain
conditions. BBQ grills are not mentioned, but it is just a bad idea to keep
LP tanks inside. Also, under 29 CFR 1910 Subpart H section 1910.110(b)(6) LP
Gas tanks must be kept outside of buildings, except under certain
conditions. Again, I don't think BBQ grills are specifically allowed. In
both cases, it might be permissable to have a BBQ grill and LP tank in a
building while in use--if it is attended and other safety measures are put
into place, such as ventilation--but not stored.
