Subject: Invisible Children screening at Miami University!

Dear Professors and faculty members,

The Social Action Center and Unified for Unifat is bringing the Invisible Children Roadies to Miami University on April 14th, 2011 for their Congo Tour. During their visit, they will be showing their newest documentary, "Tony" which tells the story about a young boy who lives in Uganda. Tony is one of the thousands of children whose life has been affected by the 25 year war taking place in Northern Uganda and Southern Sudan. They will also be discussing what they have done so far to help this war torn region, as well as the ideas they have for the future.

They will also be discussing their Schools for Schools program. This program, along iwth hte Legacy Scholarship Fund, is an education based program that provides schools around the world with an opportunity to directly raise funds and awareness to help renovate and rebuild war affected secondary schools in northern Uganda. To learn more about the Schools for Schools program, please click on the following video link. http://vimeo.com/7525779

The roadies are a group of advocates that travel around the country to show documentaries and raise awareness about Africa's longest running war, and we are very lucky and excited to have them come to Miami University! One of the members of this team has traveled from Uganda so she can tell her own personal story of survival and advocate for those who have been affected by this war. As a member of Miami University's Social Action Center, I want to have a huge audience at this screening so we can reach as many people as possible and make them aware of the situation currently going on in central Africa.

I am writing this email in hope that you will pass this information on to your students. Please urge them to go! Feel free to show them the video clips below so they know more about the situation taking place in Northern Uganda. If you would like to offer your students extra credit to attend this event, that would be very much appreciated! If it is something you are interested in doing, please email me back and let me know that you have given your classes this opportunity. I can have sign in sheets at the event and return them to you the next day, or you can offer an assignment that corresponds with the screening. If you are going to pass this information on and are going to offer it as extra credit, please email me back with the course name and how many classes you are offering this great opportunity to.

The event is Thursday April 14th at 7:00pm in Shideler 115. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me back!
Thank you for your time and consideration.
