The Public Poet
Rodneyc//02

Standing on the edge of a
tomorrow that may not come,
Wondering in the fields of
dreams that could really be,
Stranded in a world where
vision is limited, and hope is rare
Wanting reach the child
that lies within each of our souls.

Worshiping at the altar
of Love and Forgiveness,
Singing on the shores
of Beauty and Contentment
Wordsmith fashioning
for all to see
Speaking of the good
that lies within our destiny.

Seeking the rainbow
within the storm
Weeping the tears
that others would weep
Sentinel watching over
our troubled sighs
Waiting for the
dawn to come.

Writing of heaven,
Living in hell.
Singing of wonder,
Crying of pain.
Willingly giving
While being denied
Spring of our desires,
The public poet.
