Hi Rodney,

First of all, just thank you.

Second, below is an excerpt from a student's introduction to an essay assignment asking them to reflect on and write their Intellectual Autobiography. As you and I just discussed, and you always point out, we are on the move!

Intellectual Autobiography
I as a normal person also have many faults to my personality and just general make up. But as I look back the_____________ just three years ago has become a completely different person and I am very proud of myself because of it. Joining this class was not just because it is starting my Thematic Sequence Miami requires to graduate,(because there are many other ones I could have pursued) but to become more of a well round person. Growing up in Cleveland introduced me to many different cultures, personalities, foods, languages, fashions, etc. Not only did growing up in Cleveland affect this but so did the sports I played starting from a young age. Meeting kids of all shapes, colors, and size traveling the Nation for different camps and tournaments made me extremely interested in the cultures and back grounds of people. Coming to Miami University made me even more interested because I would say the majority of the kids here look the same with their Polo shirts, Sperry's, designer everything, and all around "bro look". Because of this I asked around to my older friends for classes to take for Miami plan and everyone's response was to take Black World Studies as my Thematic Sequence and that it made them look at people in a completely different perspective. With this in mind I dropped one of my prior classes and picked up this course.

The writing needs some work--hey, that's why we're in business!--but the sentiment is powerful.

Peace, Adrian
