Discourses on Responsibility and Freedom: From Social Action to Social
Justice
What: Coates lecture:
Where: Kumler Chapel,
When: 5pm-6 pm ; Oct 25

Many have pondered how and why the dreams of a racial democracy, free
from racialized structures of indifference, prejudice, and oppression,
were never quite realized. Even now, as we see the newer and more
refined forms of racism replace the older cruder forms, Blacks,
Hispanics, Asians, Homosexuals, Women face more pernicious forms of
oppression In this lecture Coates will travel the road from Social
Action to Social Justice, argues that the old ways do not work, and that
a new discourse must be identified. Join him, at 5 pm on Oct. 25 in
Kumler Chapel to begin this discourse.
