Hoarding that which ultimately has no value
Obsessively wanting that which can never be yours
Rituals without purpose, traditions without reasons
Causes just because.

Saintly devotion devoid of love
Strict adherence to codes of indifference
Sordid displays of opulence masked as religion
Sanctimonious calls to frivolity characterized as duty

Paternal decrees of subservience
Maternal denials of paternity
Fraternal dismissals of brotherhood
Sisters bereft of reality

Patriotic tryst on foreign shores
Stollen moments outside the door
Honors given in in the face of deceit
Bedlam replacing wisdom in the streets

Teachers caught up in ideology
Preachers payed to lie, obfuscate, mitigate
Leaders following polls
Reality constructed from fantasy
