U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine (alumnus), R-Ohio, returned to Miami University
Thursday night to deliver the W.A. Hammond Lecture on The American
Tradition.  Includes a photo of DeWine during his speech.
And:
Former Hamilton educator John Lazares (alumnus) wrote "Please Don't Call My
Mother," a book describing a school intervention plan that encourages
parent involvement, after his educational views received national attention
on news shows and in the papers.  Lazares will sign copies of the book from
4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at Miami University's Hamilton campus.
And:
Unlike many top Ohio Republicans, U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine (alumnus), R-Ohio,
is endorsing U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. for the presidential candidate.
Following a foreign policy speech at Miami University Thursday night DeWine
(alumnus) said he's supporting McCain "because of his foreign policy
knowledge."

Column about MetroParks says it is growing again with the recent
notification from the National Park Service that the park district's
application for acreage at the Voice of America site in Union Township has
been approved.  South of the MetroParks' land will be additional VOA
acreage being granted to Union Township and Miami University.

Specific plans were announced for the former VOA land in Union Township.
In addition to a huge park, golf course, and other development, Miami
University will build a 20-acre branch campus facility there.

The Cincinnati Enquirer, Sunday, Nov. 14
Story about the race to catch a serial rapist who is preying on women and
children in Hamilton and Warren counties says since the early 1990s at
least three similar cases were solved.  In 1994, police at Miami University
feared a serial rapist was on the loose after two attacks at women's dorms
and another at a student's off-campus apartment, all within one month.
Martinus "Mo" Davis, a former MU football player, was sent to prison for
raping two students but ruled out as a suspect in an attempted rape.

BHDP Architecture thinks there is a direct correlation between
well-designed coporate work space and the company's bottom line.  To ferret
out links between design and productivity, BHDP joined students and faculty
in the University of Cincinnati's MBA program.  Pleased with the results of
their research and their partnership with UC, BHDP is planning to establish
similar research relationships with Miami University's Department of
Architecture and Interior Design and Ohio State University's School of
Architecture.

University will provide salads to one program that is a joint effort of
several churches.

Biologist John A. Wiens will present the annual Hefner lecture at Miami
University.

Letter to the editor from Shirley Burgher says thank you to Talawanda
voters for not passing the school levy.  Burgher says, "It is high time
schools (not just Talawanda) started thinking creatively instead of, 'We
need/want more money so we'll start trying to raise taxes again.'  There is
a high 'think tank' in Oxford in the form of Miami University."

Sharon L. Attaway has been named director of continuing education and the
Business & Industry Center at Miami University Middletown.

GO! magazine says the Antioch Area Theater and Miami University Theatre
will provide female viewpoints for some classic male narratives in their
upcoming productions.  Miami will present a feminist look at the heart of
Shakespeare's "Othello" in Paul Vogel's "Desdemona: A Play About a
Handkerchief."
