Dayton Daily News, Friday, Oct. 8
Nathaniel Snow, who was found not guilty last month of posting racist
fliers at Miami University recently wrote to Miami administrators asking to
re-enroll next semester and will have to submit to a hearing in early
November before the university's Judicial Affairs committee. Black
students, who divided into camps at news of the verdict, have now divided
again in reaction to Snow's intent to return to the Oxford campus. Also
says the defense attorney's tactic of insinuating that Sydney Carthell
(affirmative action) was involved in the posting have left many unsettled,
and students are concerned the university's recruitment of minority
students will be affected by the treatment of Carthell, who is an integral
part of Miami's recruitment team. Quotes students Aziza Nicholson
(president, Black Student Action Association (BSAA)), BSAA members Jeremiah
Jackson and Mallika Stubbs and Rodney Coates (director of black world
studies).

In a significant concession to the anti-sweatshop movement on college
campuses,Nike Inc. became the first large apparel company yesterday to

And:
Story about universities fueling high-tech economic booms across the
country says universities have long churned out graduates and ideas that
have turned into companies, and have created jobs simply by being huge
institutional consumers. But in the knowledge economy, where ideas and
information become lucrative products, these cultivators of knowledge are
becoming more important than ever.

The Cincinnati Post, Thursday, Oct. 7
Between juggling jobs, raising families and figuring out a career,
community college students in Ohio have a harder time repaying their
