The Cincinnati Enquirer, Wednesday, Oct. 6
Feature on Miami University's Karl E. Limper Geology Museum says the museum
is becoming known for the lectures and field trips it sponsors for the
community.  On Oct. 16, the museum and Miami's Hefner Zoology Museum will
co-sponsor "A Public Field Trip Up Collins Run."  Includes a photo of and
quotes Joe Marak (Limper's curator and preparator).

Butler-Warren Business Journal, Friday, Oct. 1
While delivering the keynote address Monday evening to kick off a daylong
technology forum at Miami University Tuesday, C. Michael Armstrong,
chairman and chief executive officer of AT&T, said the United States is in
the midst of the most phenomenal economic expansion in its history, and it
is being powered by technological innovations that will extend the
expansion well into the 21st century.  Armstrong, a 1961 alumnus, also
announced his intent to endow a chair in networking technology and
management at Miami's business school.

Journal-News, Wednesday, Oct. 6
Miami University will hold the National Corporate Entrepreneurship
Symposium on Thursday at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in
Covington.  Cincinnati entrepreneur Richard T. Farmer (alumnus and board of
trustees member) will make a rare public speaking appearance and present
"Sustaining an Entrepreneurial Culture."  Quotes Mike Morris (Cintas Chair
in Entrepreneurship) and Jennifer Bailey (director of external relations,
business school).
And:
Miami University fraternity Phi Theta Delta has sealed a time capsule into
a cornerstone in the new addition to their headquarters.  The new addition
is named after alumnus Paul E. Martin.
And:
Hamilton resident and saxaphone player Jack Carr says, "I became proficient
during my times at Miami University with the Campus Owls, but I'm still
learning how to play."  He and fellow Campus Owls provided dance music to
Miami students for meals and money for tuition.

Dayton Daily News, Wednesday, Oct. 6
College tuition and fees rose an average of less than 5 percent this
year--the smallest increase in four years--thanks in part to the booming
economy.  But the increase was still more than twice the rate of inflation.
Mentions the increases at area schools, including Miami University.

The Cincinnati Enquirer, Wednesday, Oct. 6
Students will rally today at the University of Cincinnati in support of
financial aid, chanting slogans, carrying signs and smoking marijuana.  The
rally is organized by For a Better Ohio, a Columbus-based group committed
to legalizing industrial hemp and medical marijuana.
