Now that Common Pleas Judge Michael Sage has switched to the Republican
party John Holcomb is the lone county-wide Democratic office-holder in
Butler County.  Philip Russo Jr., director of Miami University's Center for
Public Management and Regional Affairs, says the Butler County Democrats
shouldn't let recent setbacks cause them to give up hope.

"Easter bunny" and "Easter egg."

The Day (New London, Conn.), March 30
In response to the newspaper's writer who referred to "tiny, little Miami
of Ohio," Harry L. Connor's letter says Miami University has some 16,000
students on its main campus and close to 4,000 more on its branch campuses,
is rated among the nation's best state universities academically and has
produced a number of first-rate football coaches.  He says the "only thing
'tiny' is the writer's provincial frame of reference."

A Miami University student was robbed by a masked man in the campus parking
lot Thursday night.

The Columbus Dispatch, Saturday, March 27
In Columbus there is a hospital called Doctors North but there's no Doctors
South and there's a Mount Carmel East but no Mount Carmel West.  And soon,
when Ohio State University buys Park Medical Center, there will be a
University Hospitals East but no University Hospitals West.  Don Norris
(marketing) says, "There's more that could be put into it than just "East"
to connote the skills, services and expertise Ohio State plans to put into
it."

Sports column about Don Barnette, who played for the Harlem Globetrotters
and was the first black ever to wear a Miami University basketball uniform.
Talks about discrimination he faced by opposing teams during that time and
says he is being considered for the Black Legends of Professional
Basketball and Miami University's Sports Hall of Fame.  At a recent Alumni
Association meeting in Calif., Miami president James Garland told Barnette
he would be honored to shake his hand at halftime of the Miami football
game at which Hall of Famers are inducted.

The Columbus Dispatch, Friday, March 26
Story about a bill that would help elderly pay for long-term health care
says a study last year by the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami
University found that by 2010, about 112,300 people 85 and older will need
long-term care in Ohio.

The Columbus Dispatch, Sunday, Feb. 28
Miami University student Sarah Stewart was among 20 undergraduates
nationwide named to an All-USA College Academic Team by USA TODAY, and
another Miami student, Jennifer Marlowe, was named to the honorable mention
list.  Miami is one of only four public universities to have a student
named to the team.

The Columbus Dispatch, Saturday, March 13
Story about the beekeeping museum at Ohio State University says the museum
pays homage to an Ohioan, Lorenzo Langstroth, who patented the bee house
that revolutionized honey-gathering in the 19th century.  Also says his
cottage on the Miami University campus is a historic landmark.
