Editorial about Gov. Bob Taft's suggestion to have the Ohio Board of
Regents grade all of the state's colleges and universities says the board's
chancellor has "embraced the proposal with a single caveat that is worth
keeping firmly in mind: Not all of Ohio's 38 college and universities have
similar missions or similar student bodies.  The mission and expected
performance standards of Miami University, for example, are vastly
different from those at Shawnee State University."

Broadcast of Richard Little (university communications) being interviewed
about Title IX on a national sports talk show.

Lancaster Eagle Gazette, Friday, Nov. 19
Editorial about male athletes at Miami University suing the school because
it cut their sports teams says "too many colleges have eliminated men's
programs to enforce a strict "50-50" quota of male and female athletes.
This isn't necessarily the fault of the college.  It isn't the fault of the
athletes.  It is the fault of the federal government for strictly enforcing
a mandate that leaves no room for common sense."

Some Miami University male athletes are suing the school for dropping their
sports.  Some stories quote Richard Little (university communications) and
tennis player Mario Contardi.

"Get to it" column includes the performance by four-woman a cappella group
"Anonymous 4" Friday at Hall Auditorium.

The Middletown Journal, Wednesday, Dec. 8
Miami University Middletown will hold two free holiday concerts this
Sunday.  The first concert will feature the Southwestern Ohio Symphonic
Band performing various holiday songs at 3 p.m. in the Dave Finkelman
Auditorium, and the second show, "Not Your Traditional Holiday Concert,"
will feature students from the music and continuing education programs.

The Middletown Journal, Tuesday, Dec. 7
KZF Inc. won a 1999 Design Honor Award for Levey Hall, Miami University
Middletown's new science building.

The Cincinnati Enquirer, Thursday, Dec. 9
A high-school diploma is no guarantee the student has taken the right
courses to qualify for college admissions, which is why so many students
are forced to take remedial courses in college, according to a study
released Wednesday.

Dayton Daily News, Thursday, Dec. 9
Some Antioch College faculty memebers have formed a chapter of the American
Association of University Professors to help give them a stronger voice in
decision-making at the college.
