Ch. 2, 12, 22, WMUB, WCPN (Cleveland) and WLW, Tuesday, Oct. 26; The
Cincinnati Enquirer, Wednesday, Oct. 27
Community leaders and Miami University officials broke ground Tuesday for a
campus memorial to three civil rights activists who were trained at the
school before they were murdered in Mississippi in 1964.  WLW and WCPN
interviewed Art Miller (member of Oxford NAACP).

Journal-News, Wednesday, Oct. 27
Photo of a crowd listening to groundbreaking ceremonies for an outdoor
amphitheater-styled classroom at Miami University.  The amphitheater is a
memorial to three civil rights workers who were slain in 1964 after leaving
a voter registration training session in Oxford.  Also includes a photo of
an artist's sketch of the memorial.

The Cincinnati Enquirer, Wednesday, Oct. 27
Obesity is a U.S. epidemic that has surged in the past decade and now
affects nearly one in five adults, killing some 300,000 a year, a
collection of new studies suggest.  Quotes Diana Spillman (physical
education, health and sport studies).

The Middletown Journal, Tuesday, Oct. 26
Story about the First Mentors program in Middletown, which matches children
who need role models with college students who are dedicated to continuing
a positive relationship throughout the year, quotes Damon Chapman (Miami
Middletown student), a "big brother" for more than a year.  Big
Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Middletown teamed up with Miami-Middletown
to bring the First Mentors program to local children.  Also quotes Jim
Sliger (athletic director, Middletown campus) who heads up the program,
which targets athletes but is open to anyone.

The Middletown Journal, Friday, Oct. 22
Students and staff from Miami Middletown will participate in the American
Heart Walk Saturday in honor of 23-year-old MUM student, Ryan Green, who
died in August of a ruptured aorta.  Miami Middletown's student advisory
council is matching the Heart Walk contributions up to $500.  Quotes Amy
Brannon, president of the council, and Wanita Hatton (facilities services,
MUM).

Photo of 3-year-old Jodecca Pruden hopping in a Hop-A-Thon Thursday to
raise money for the Middletown Area United Way.  Preschool children from
MUM Tots at the Middletown campus participated.

Business Courier, Friday, October 22
Officials at the burgeoning Union Centre region of Butler County recently
unleashed a new Web site and marketing strategy to further promote and
enhance economic development and new projects in their neck of the woods.
One of the features they are touting is a position within a 45-mile radius
of more than 30 colleges, universities and technical schools such as Miami
University and others.
