The Middletown Journal, Saturday, Feb. 19
Many local Miami University Middletown students will benefit from the
development of a new $444,150 permanent scholarship fund, the Miriam G.
Knoll-Miami University Middletown Scholarship Fund.  Quotes Sherry Pieratt
(development, Middletown campus).

Journal-News, Wednesday, Feb. 23
In order to help students at Talawanda Middle School leave their mark on
the school, sixth-grade art teacher Jan Hunsche had the entire school
create self-portraits, transfer them to a tile, paint them and now those
tiles are being installed on a wall of the school.  The painters received a
helping hand from members of Delta Gamma sorority and Phi Gamma Delta
fraternity at Miami University.

Letter to the editor from a Hamilton resident questions the city's
priorities.  Among other things, he mentions that the city can't come up
with enough money to run the sports arena on Peck Boulevard, where hundreds
of kids and families participate in activiies and asks the question, "Why
does Miami need a parking lot right here?"

Joseph Tanney, a partner in the New York firm Resolution: 4 Architecture
will speak at Miami University at 7 p.m. today in room 100 of the art
building.

Several Oxford children are included in the cast of "The Drinking Gourd," a
Miami University department of theatre MainStage production.

The Miami University Performing Arts Series presentation of the Festival of
Echternach Chamber Orchestra at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, in Hall Auditorium
is a preview of music the group will perform the next day in Washington,
D.C.'s Kennedy Center.
And:
The art exhibit "Art/Science-Line/Design," which opens Tuesday, Feb. 29 at
the Miami University Art Museum, complements an international conference
April 6-8, "Metaphysics into Science: Gender and Knowledge in Early Modern
Europe."

The Middletown Journal, Thursday, Feb. 17
In his guest column about Black History Month, James Ewers (student
affairs, Middletown campus) says he remains hopeful that there will come a
time when it will not be necessary to highlight the accomplishments of
African Americans using special handouts, bulletin boards or special
programs because textbooks will adequately describe and celebrate their
achievements.

The Middletown Journal, Sunday, Feb. 20
Miami Middletown students Brandi Lamb, Denise Watts and Lottie Hawkins
received scholarships from Soroptimist International of Middletown.

Dayton Daily News, Wednesday, Feb. 23
Editorial says if the Democratics of the 8th Congressional District want a
respectable challenger for U.S. Rep. John Boehner, they have no choice but
to pick John Parks (English).
