About 86 percent of Hamilton residents who participated in a recent survey
say they or their family members would definitely or probably use a new
aquatic  center if Hamilton were to build it.  The survey was conducted by
a team from Miami University Middletown's Applied Research Center, and
sixty-two percent of those surveyed would like to see it built near Miami
University Hamilton.

Enrico Blasi (alumnus) has been hired as Miami University's head coach for
the hockey team.  Quotes Joel Maturi (athletic director).

Hamilton Law Director Mark Brandenurger (alumnus) has been appointed as
deputy city manager of operations.

Guest column by Allen Berger (Heckert Professor of Reading and Writing)
says a growing problem affecting the teaching of reading and writing as
well as other subjects is the increasing use of underqualified teachers and
closely related to this problem is the drastic shortage of substitute
teachers.  He also says as the new school year begins, let's make a promise
to our children and ourselves that we will sustain and enrich our teachers
and schools so that they and all of us will enjoy a promising future.

Middletown campus) will be available for purchase at Arts in Middletown
starting August 12.  Proceeds will benefit Arts in Middletown.
