Editorial about Miami University's Richard T. Farmer School of Business
Administration says it was recently ranked as one of the top 50
undergraduate business schools by U.S. News & World Report, and "Dean Dan
Short and the faculty and staff are in the process of creating an
undergraduate school of business that will produce graduates than can, and
will, compete with graduates of the nation's top-flight MBA programs."
Also says "The tremendous success the region has had in attracting major
corporations to expand or relocate here is in no small measure due to the
presence of Miami University."

Less than a year after the discovery of racial fliers rocked the Miami
University campus and prompted widespread protests, many students are
expressing indifference about the trial stemming from the incident.  Quotes
Gary Hunter (affirmative action and human resource development), Steve
DeLue (associate dean, College of Arts and Science) and Miami students Tara
Chaffins, Adam Thomas and Jessica Przybylski.

Freedom of speech is not the only defense being used by two men accused of
posting racist literature at Miami University, as attorneys also are
attacking the credibility of the employee, Sydney Carthell, who discovered
it.

South Side of Chicago" which was the summer reading project for incoming
freshman at Miami University.

The Honorable John Dolibois, former Ambassador to Luxembourg, will be the
keynote speaker at the Annual Ambassador Awards Luncheon at the Fitton
Center for Creative Arts Sept. 8.  Prior to becoming the U.S. Ambassador to
Luxembourg, Dolibois served on the administrative staff of Miami University
for 34 years and was Vice President of University Relations.

Story about University of Cincinnati's on-the-spot admission programs says
the idea is becoming popular at other Tristate colleges.  At small schools
such as Miami University's Hamilton and Middletown campuses, an informal
version of one-stop admissions has been around for years, but large
universities like UC just began in the 1990s.

Hometown Hero Beth Myers (alumna) is a law firm partner, wife and mother
who devotes much of her time to volunteer work.

Story about Rod Nimtz's (assistant executive director, Middletown campus)
musical background and his first CD, "Quiet Hymns for Quiet Times" quotes
Michael Coyan (Arts In Middletown director), who says he attended college
with Nimtz at Miami University.  Nimtz is assistant executive director at
the Middletown campus.

Trial for the two former Miami University students accused of posting
racist messages at the CBCL was halted Friday and will resume Monday.

Randy McNutt's column says Sept. 12, Oxford residents and Miami students
will take their annual CROP Walk and this year it will be a 10-kilometer
walk through Miami's Bachelor Estate woods.  The new trail has been
arranged and marked by Paul Daniel, a retired Miami zoology professor.
CROP Walk was started nine years ago by Miami's Greek Week committee.

With admission to the best state colleges becoming more difficult, students
with less than perfect grades face a serious task: They must find an
affordable school that offers a solid education.  Toni DiPasquale, who has
formed a professional service to help high school students sort through
brochures and find a college that fits their needs, says, "You need about a
4.0 grade-point average for admission to the University of Michigan, 3.5 at
Miami University and now 3.0 for Ohio State."

Dayton Daily News, Monday, August 30
Today, officials from the NCAA and the Alfred University Presidential
Commission on Athletics will announce results of a comprehensive survey
about hazing among athletes.  As they prepare for seasons during which they
will be defending winning records, football coaches and players at Ohio
State and Miami say hazing is not a problem on their teams.  Quotes Miami
football coach Terry Hoeppner.

Story by Patrick Vaughn (Miami student) about his trip to Hamilton,
Scotland with a group of young performers from the Encore Summer Youth
Theatre.  The Journal-News gave him a "handful of film and the assignment
to bring home his diary from the trip."
And:
Will Harbaum's column about Hueston Woods says he used the park as the
basis for his thesis while working on a master's degree at Miami University.

Weekend section says that Make a Difference Day will be Oct. 23, and for
the second year, twins Jeffrey and Frank Griffiths will compete to see
whose college campus will do the most good.  Jeffrey is at Miami
University, and Frank is at the University of Virginia.  Includes a photo
of the two.

John and Cindy McCue, whose son Bradley died from alcohol poisoning after
drinking 24 shots on his 21st birthday at Michigan State, formed B.R.A.D.
(Be Responsible About Drinking) to educate people about celebration
drinking and alcohol poisoning.  With their own money and
contributions,they send birthday cards that are signed by them and contain
Bradley's story and picture to every Michigan State student turning 21.

For the first time, University of Cincinnati students will be able to
register for classes and adjust their course schedules using the Internet.
