The Diane Rehm Show, 10-12 noon (*2 full hours on WMUB)
10-11: Iran: On Friday, Iranians will elect a new parliament. Many
observers believe that Iran is on a path to liberalization and that
voters are likely to support "reform" candidates rather than
conservatives. But clerical forces still hold a great deal of power
in the Muslim country. A panel talks about the forces at work in
Iran's politics and the possible outcomes of this election.
Guests: Robin Wright, reporter for the L.A. Times and author
of "The Last Great Revolution: Turmoil and Transformation in Iran"
(Knopf); Jonathan Alterman, U.S. Institute of Peace; Patrick Clawson,
Washington Institute for Near East Policy
11-12: Robert Gottlieb: Diane talks with editor Robert Gottlieb ("GOT
leeb") about highlights of his career, which include serving as head
editor at Knopf and as editor of The New Yorker, the magazine that is
celebrating its 75th anniversary this month.
Fresh Air with Terry Gross, 12:06-1 p.m.
The boy who was raised as a girl. DAVID REIMER was born a boy, but
after a botched circumcision, his sex was surgically altered and he
was raised as a girl. Now he's the subject of the new book "As
nature Made Him." We hear from DAVID REIMER ("RYMER") and author
JOHN COLAPINTO (cahl-ah-PINT-o).
