The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
Hour One: Nursing Shortage: The U.S. experiences nursing
shortages at fairly regular intervals, but many believe the current
shortage is an unprecedented crisis. Fewer people are going to
nursing school, and nurses are also leaving hospital employment in
droves. A panel talks about the problem and what can be done to
address it. Guests: Julie Sochalski, Center for Health Outcomes and
Policy at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing; Jim
Bentley, American Hospital Association; Susan Bianchi-Sand, United
American Nurses
Hour Two: Elva Trevino Hart: "Barefoot Heart" (Bilingual

as the daughter of Mexican immigrant migrant workers. She joins Diane
to talk about growing up in this environment, and about how she left
it behind and got an education.

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
The streamlining of movie theater companies: Movie theater
companies have built new Mega-plexes around the country, featuring
stadium seating, enhanced sound, and amenities like arcades and a
wider variety of food. But the new theaters are drawing so many
film-goers that they're putting smaller, older venues out of
business. Some theater companies have declared bankruptcy.
