DETAILS:

Sound Health (9am - 10am, repeated 7 - 8pm)
Our monthly FitTalk program, hosted by "Dr. Jay" Kimiecik, PhD,
Associate Professor in Health Promotion at Miami University.

The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
Hour One: Prescription Drug Benefits: President Bush wants to give
states billions of dollars as short-term help in paying for
prescription drugs. Bush plans to work with Congress to revamp the
health care system to include a prescription drug benefit for the
elderly. But many states have decided to skip the wait and come up
with their own drug plans. A panel talks about the debate over how to
pay for prescription drugs. Guests: James Frogue, Heritage
Foundation; John Rother, AARP; Richard Cauchi, National Conference of
State Legislatures
Hour Two: Dan Kurzman: Journalist Kurzman's latest book tells the
story of one of the most devastating natural disasters in American
history, the earthquake that rocked San Francisco on April 18, 1906.
He joins Diane to talk about how the quake affected the city and its
citizens. His book is titled "Disaster!" (William Morrow).

Fresh Air with Terry Gross (Noon - 1pm)
Sante <sahn-TAY> Kimes and her son Kenny made headlines last year.
The two con artists were arrested and convicted on numerous charges,
including conspiracy, forgery, burglary and murder. KENT WALKER is
Sante's <sahn-TAYZ> other son. He fills in all the details about his
mother and half-brother; his new memoir is called "Son of a Grifter."

Public Interest with Kojo Nnamdi (1pm - 2pm)
IT'S ONE OF THE GREAT MYSTERIES -- WHERE DOES IDENTITY COME FROM? AS
A NEUROLOGIST AND A PSYCHIATRIST, DR. TODD FEINBERG (FINE-berg) IS
BETTER ABLE TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION THAN MOST PEOPLE. EXPLORING THE
BRAIN AS THE SOURCE OF THE SELF. Guest: Todd E. Feinberg, MD,
psychiatrist and neurologist; and author of "Altered Egos: How the
Brain Creates the Self" (Pub: Oxford Univ. Press)

Talk of the Nation with Juan Williams (2pm - 4pm) (with guest host
Melinda Penkava)
Hour One: A writers strike threatens California's economy. Possible
reasons for the strike and whether it can be averted.
Hour Two: Problem drinking and treatment options. New approaches to
treating alcohol abuse reflect the belief that it is a problem of
behavior and judgment, rather than a disease. Does this new outlook
help problem drinkers in kicking the habit?

All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
A Changing Face of America report: Maria Lopez is determined. She
didn't want to settle for just any job. So this former welfare mother
intends to get the most education she can. But juggling that, and
care of her children and her disabled brother isn't easy. Maria Lopez
is one of many people making their way to work from welfare.
