The Diane Rehm Show (10a.m. - Noon):
Hour One:: Election update Diane returns from the holiday
weekend for an update of the latest political and legal developments
in the ongoing story of the presidential election. Guest: Norm
Ornstein, American Enterprise Institute
Hour Two: Peter Singer: Singer is a philosopher and
professor of bioethics at Princeton University. He's most famous for
his book "Animal Liberation," which was one of the seminal texts of
the animal rights movement. He's also highly controversial for his
views on euthanasia and the responsibility of the world's affluent
for the world's poor. He talks with Diane about his new book
"Writings on an Ethical Life" (Ecco/HarperCollins), which brings
together for the first time his most influential writings.

Fresh Air (Noon - 1p.m.):
Voice coach Patsy Rodenburg; review of a Jimi Hendrix
collection A voice lesson from voice and acting coach Patsy
Rodenburg. She's trained some of the world's leading actors. Also,
Music critic MILO MILES reviews "The Jimi Hendrix Experience," a new
4 C-D box set celebrating the legendary rock guitarist.

Public Interest (1p.m. - 2p.m.):
"Ho Chi Minh: A Life" CONFUCIAN HUMANIST. COMMUNIST
REVOLUTIONARY. ARCHITECT OF COLONIAL INDEPENDENCE. VIETNAMESE LEADER
HO CHI MINH WAS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT, CONTROVERSIAL, AND
MYSTERIOUS FIGURES OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. AN EXPLORATION OF HIS
LIFE. Guest: William Duiker (DYE-ker), author

Talk of the Nation (1p.m. - 3p.m.):
Hour One: Presidential election news Monday promises to be
another pivotal day in this historic post-election struggle for the
presidency. Sunday's deadline for counties to submit the results of
their recounts means that Florida's secretary of state may be at last
able to certify the results from the November 7th presidential
election. Is it time for a declaration of victory or the filing of
additional lawsuits?
Hour Two: Senate reaction to the election The post-election
battle between the presidential candidates is carrying over to the
Congress. Members of Congress know that they may play a role in
deciding who becomes President. And the ongoing legal and political
struggle is exacerbating already high partisan tensions in the
world's greatest deliberative body.
