Your Mac and PC computer questions answered by Ted Beerman and Guy Moore.
The Diane Rehm Show (10am - Noon)
Hour One: Postmaster General: William Henderson, Postmaster General,
joins Diane to talk about challenges and changes facing the U.S.
Postal Service. Some possible solutions for budget deficits include
closing facilities and suspending Saturday delivery service.
Hour Two: Madelyn Cain: Whether by choice or by circumstance, a
growing number of American women do not, and will not have children.
Author Madelyn Cain explores the reasons behind this, and how our
society is reacting, in her book "The Childless Revolution" (Perseus).
Fresh Air with Terry Gross (Noon - 1pm)
PAUL ROBESON JR. discusses his famous father, the subject of his new
memoir, "The Undiscovered Paul Robeson." The elder Robeson was an
athlete, a scholar, an activist and a famous actor from 1920's
through the 50's. His son offers an "intimate, informal biography,"
citing letters, diary entries, speeches and news accounts.
Public Interest with Kojo Nnamdi (1pm - 2pm)
Kinship Care: IN CITIES ACROSS THE NATION, MILLIONS OF KIDS ARE BEING
RAISED BY RELATIVES OTHER THAN THEIR BIOLOGICAL PARENTS. BUT IS
KINSHIP CARE' BETTER THAN TRADITIONAL FOSTER CARE? SHOULD SOMEONE BE
PAID FOR TAKING CARE OF RELATIVES? OUR SERIES WITH THE URBAN
INSTITUTE CONTINUES WITH A LOOK AT KINSHIP CARE.' Guests:1. Rob Geen,
senior researcher, Urban Institute; 2. Ana Beltran, Project Director
for the Grandparents and Other Relatives Raising Children Program,
Generations United; 3. Ronald Browder, Chief of the Bureau of
Adoption and Kinship Care for the Ohio Department of Job and Family
Services
Talk of the Nation with Juan Williams (2pm - 4pm)
Hour One: Different images of the Deep South: An ex-Klansman is on
trial in Alabama for a 1963 church bombing. Mississippi just agreed
to pour more money into its traditionally black colleges. And VOTERS
in Mississippi just decided to keep the Confederate flag flying.
Hour Two: Rape prevention programs: they have traditionally been
aimed at women. But some people wonder if that's the only good
approach. A new program shifts the focus onto men.
All Things Considered (4pm - 7pm)
A robotic spacecraft called Mars Odyssey is speeding towards the Red
Planet, measuring radiation that astronauts would be exposed to if
they made the same trip. Back on earth, the idea of sending people to
Mars is still being debated. Would it be another "giant leap for
mankind?"
