The Diane Rehm Show (10 am - noon)
        1: Cabinet Nominees: George Bush's nominee for Secretary of
Labor withdrew from consideration this week amid questions of her
relationship with an illegal immigrant who had lived in her home.
Other potential cabinet secretaries, like Attorney General-designate
John Ashcroft, are facing scrutiny and opposition as they enter the
Senate confirmation process. Diane and her guests discuss the
controversy surrounding certain Bush nominees, and talk about the
kind of trouble other nominations may face in the coming weeks.
Guests: Ralph Neas, People for the American Way; David Keene,
American Conservative Union; Tom Edsall, Washington Post
        2: Rebecca Walker: Rebecca Walker is daughter of
African-American writer Alice Walker and Jewish-American lawyer Mel
Leventhal. In her memoir "Black, White, and Jewish" (Riverhead) she
describes growing up amid various racial, religious, political and
regional influences, and tells how she's forged her own identity as a
multicultural adult woman.

Fresh Air (noon - 1 pm)
        Life in the Clinton White House. Terry talks with President
Clinton's former campaign strategist and political advisor PAUL
BEGALA, and former budget director and chief of staff LEON PANETTA.

        In Maricopa County, Arizona, the Sheriff arms his prison
guards with stun guns -- devices that can deliver a 50-thousand volt
shock. They were provided to the county by a research arm of the US
Justice Department. Why the Department wanted to study stun guns, and
why they became concerned the devices were being misused.

tomorrow  on WMUB Forum (9 - 10 am, repeated 7 - 8 pm)
        Poets Jim Reiss and David Schloss. Darrel will be joined in
studio by these two contemporary poets. Schloss is a Professor of
English at Miami University; Reiss is Director of the Miami
University Press and is nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his latest
book of poetry.
