Yesterdays Quiz birds were in fact "Baypolls", the first a Bay-breasted
hatch-year female as Mike correctly surmised and the second a hatch-year
Blackpoll. Both birds were adjacent in the same net! Thanks for your
input Mike!! This morning (Thurs) we banded at Hueston Woods, I only ran
60% of our normal number of nets, because I was not sure how many bird we
might get and we had a limited crew. We were able to band 39 birds with an
additional 7 recaptures (including a Wilson's male banded last Sat). We
banded our 31st species of warbler this morning, a hatch-year Northern
Parula! Also ten of our 39 birds banded were Tenn. Warblers! In addition
to another juv Cedar Waxwing (4 waxwings total), Wood and Swainson's
Thrushes, and the usual masses of catbirds we banded the following--todays
quiz birds [I have include two pictures of both because the lighting on the
first net run was very poor and gave different color impressions]
Good Luck!
Dave
