Opportunity location: Southern Ohio - Tar Hollow State Forest near
Chillicothe OH
Opportunity Description:
Avian field technicians (3 volunteer positions available) needed for
research project studying the effects of forest management on bird behavior,
reproduction and survival. Technicians needed from late April 2011 through
late July or early August 2011 to assist with bird banding, nest searching
and monitoring, and habitat assessment. Must be able to recognize forest
birds by sight and sound (or be willing to learn quickly) and be able to
work and navigate in forested areas with difficult terrain. Priority given
to those applicants that are able to identify forest birds and those with
nest searching and bird banding experience. Training will be provided in all
aspects of this research. Primitive camping in will be provided but
reliable transportation is needed.
