Teri,
According to the printed lyric sheet from the MusicPak software the verse
reads like this:
Points upon a map, thoughts that turn to scrap. The things that rust away,
what to say, and what to say. And you still claim that you are going to
name our new southern man if you can, if you can.
I would hope that these lyrics came directly from Mike to be released in the
software. Try downloading the new version to see for yourself. As for what
they mean I???

Okay, maybe I just have funky ears or something, but I keep hearing one
stanza differently than the lyrics say and that Art originally posted
(who was the source of the lyrics anyway...I've seen some awfully funky
"authentic" lyrics...):
And you still claim
That you aren't going to name
A new Southern man
If you can, if you can
(Meaning you're not going to hitch yourself to another Southerner if you
can help it, but you probably won't be able to).
Critically listening-- ;-)
