Hi guys,
I've been asked to co-PI a large internal grant proposal aimed at building
up infrastructure and collaboration in preparation for a national funding
initiative in Ecology. I've attached a rough draft of the internal
proposal (due February 1) to give you a sense of what we're trying to
do. Please give it a look and let me know if you have any thoughts about
computing, networking, storage, and associated support needs on this project.
At the moment, we need to get a ballpark idea of what computational
expenses should be funded by the current proposal. So far they've allocated
$20,000 for "computational resources and consulting", a catch-all term used
to mean "expertise outside ecology" such as computing, statistics, and
mathematical analysis; my main job is to clarify this aspect and firm up
the number. The total grant request is limited to $250,000, but could be
supplemented by divisional matching.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'll probably stop later
this week or early next week to talk things over as we get a better sense
of what's needed.
Thanks!
Steve
