I personally don't have a problem telling students we don't support a
beta. While I understand the want/desire, I think I could make the
argument to a parent explaining the challenges associated with
supporting a beta product. To me, the bigger problem is with
Table/2003/XP Media Edition PCs not going through any checks. It seems
the added OS detection options shouldn't have been employed until we
also had the ability to assign rules and checks to them. While I could
build a rule that would catch these versions, it would also break
98/Me/2000 machines. Not to mention the headache involved manually
creating all those checks and rules.

I dont mean to put in a rush order or anything, but is there a
timetable on the IE7 fix? The stats are tough to predict, but I dont
think it would be unreasonable to assume a 5% IE7 saturation rate. I
don't like telling people that they can't use software because our
network is not up to date. I understand it's a beta product, but the
parents wont.

If it helps set the development priority higher...

This is going to KILL us. We have a tablet program on campus. Almost
30
percent of our PCs are tablets.

Rand

Bill,

Unfortunately, at the moment, that is the only solution.

We are attempting to add Media center and Tablet PC support asap.
However, the exact timeline is not yet firm.

Rajesh,

Thanks for the quick reply. Since all of the hotfixes are specific
for
X P, must I copy every required hotfix, specify that it is for Windows
ALL, create a copy of the XP hotfix rule for windows all, and apply it
to the Windows All patch requirement?

What about the other windows OSes that are considered windows all,
such
a s Windows 2003 or Windows XP tablet? It seems to get complicated
pretty fa st.
Is there a way to include a WinXP only check in the WinALL rule?

Do you know how long it will be (rough estimate) before the alternate
flavors of XP can be put into a container?

Thanks again!
