We seem to be getting a small influx of these birds here in central Ohio. Yesterday I found one while surveying the Big Walnut Greenbelt here in Gahanna. It was in an old stand of White Pines that often collects stray migrants, but is too small for winter residents. Today I checked Jeffrey Park in Bexley (a near east suburb), which is often a good trap for this species (with an isolated stand of pines & spruces), and found another single individual. Both of these birds are likely migrants, since we often get migrants in late October, even in low invasion years. Both sites also had good numbers of golden-crowned kinglets and brown creepers, which are also late migrants that verge on the border of irruptive winter residents.
