Two Chimney Swifts were flying around over the marsh adjacent to North
Chagrin Nature Center this morning, maybe brought back north with the recent
strong low pressure system that moved through. (It has been a few years
since I have seen Vaux's Swift, but I saw nothing to indicate anything other
than Chimney Swift.) North Chagrin Reservation of Cleveland Metroparks is in
NE Cuyahoga County.

Also spent a little time at blustery Headlands Beach, Lake Co. this morning
before work. Nothing unexpected up to the time I left, but there was a pod
of birders scanning the lake so they may turn up something later. Many
Bonaparte's Gulls, one or two Snow Buntings and a smattering of ducks were
the main birds of interest. Waterfowl included Red-breasted Mergansers,
dark-winged Scoter sp., Mallards, American Black Ducks and their
derivatives, Canvasback, Lesser and Greater Scaup, Bufflehead, Ruddy Duck,
N. Pintail, Gadwall). Also a shorebird sp. well out over the mouth of
Fairport Harbor that was left unidentified.
